Henna Workshop at Flowers Lates - Saatchi Gallery
Cultural Engagement, Creative Learning & Participatory Making
As part of FLOWERS LATES at Saatchi Gallery, I designed and facilitated a drop-in henna workshop inviting visitors to explore the art form through conversation and henna application.
The event brought together audiences within a gallery setting, creating an opportunity for participants to engage with henna as an artistic practice and a cultural tradition.
Project Focus
Introducing participants to the history and cultural significance of henna
Encouraging experimentation and personal expression through design
Creating an accessible entry point into an unfamiliar art form
Supporting visitors to engage creatively regardless of previous experience
My Role
Planning and preparing the workshop format
Introducing participants to henna traditions and techniques
Demonstrating approaches to the application of henna
Supporting participants as they created their own designs
Creating an inclusive and encouraging environment for experimentation
Participatory Workshop Experience
The workshop was designed as a relaxed, hands-on creative experience where participants could learn, make and try out henna.
Through guided exploration, visitors were encouraged to develop their own designs while learning about henna’s cultural roots. The session welcomed a wide range of participants, creating a shared space for creativity within the gallery environment.
